      Brand Representative/Model Interview

      Oct 14, 2010
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Abercrombie & Fitch in Oct 2010

      Interview

Walked into the store, talked to a manager, telling her I'd worked for the company before at several different locations (but in the same position). Filled in the application on the computer (the keyboard is always awful and the computer is always at an awkward height for me to comfortably type), as usual. Showed up for an interview less than a week later, where there were two other candidates. I wore A&F jeans and a plaid button down; basically I was dressed exactly like the managers. They asked all the usual questions (I've done this 4 times before): how would your friends and family describe your personality, how would you define diversity and why is it important in the workplace, what do you think of when you think of A&F and what makes it stand out from the other companies, and then they ask you to say their tagline "Hey, what's going on?". I've done this several times before, and I gave all the same answers. After the interview, they tell you about various company policies, they tell you that if you got the job they'll call you back in a couple days. This store in particular encouraged us to reapply for a different position if we weren't hired, because "just because we didn't hire you it doesn't mean we don't like you." Then everyone's dismissed from the interview location. At this point usually the manager would take me aside, tell me that she's not going to make me sweat it out waiting for a callback, tell me I'm hired, and tell me to show up at orientation on Sunday. Not this time. Looking back, I'd probably say that my problem was that I wasn't perky enough. My advice to anyone applying would be to act as bubbly and smiley as humanly possible. I've had a lot of coworkers here who really overdo it. For the most part, this is a company that's been good to me over the years. I've always been on friendly terms with my managers and coworkers. At both stores I worked at, I was approached by the managers to apply for a manager-in-training position after I graduated from college, and I would have done so had I not chosen to live abroad. I don't think it's uncommon not to be rehired. It happened to a friend of mine who'd aced the manager interview, tried to transfer in as a model so she could have a part-time job when she went home for the summer. Now she's working at Express. It's disappointing that their hiring practices don't seem to be uniform for every store, even if their interviewing processes are, but on the other hand, if one store doesn't seem to like you, you can always try again somewhere else. Or you can try again at the same store (because just because they didn't hire you doesn't mean they don't like you).

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Abercrombie & Fitch (Seattle, WA)

      Interview

The interview process was one on one with a manager. The interview was chill and easy, mostly because the person who interviewed me was very nice and friendly. Thus, I could talk more freely and show my personality. I got a call about a week later getting the job!

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Abercrombie & Fitch (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2022

      Interview

There are group interviews for cast members with store management and one-on-one interviews for management positions with the district manager. The process is just using regular retail questions, i.e. about your customer service, how you would problem solve, and sometimes they ask about your hobbies.
