      Operations Engineer Interview

      Feb 21, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Amazon in Nov 2024

      Interview

Applied in September of 2024, interviewed in November. All interviews were remote. First interview was introductory, while the following two day long session was conducted with five people, one after another. My recruiter gave me a well laid out interview schedule and lots of guidance on the process, with plenty of example questions. They will mostly just want to get to know you, talk about your experience, and ask you behavioral questions - which if you follow the STAR method and review Amazon's 14 leadership principals - you'll basically have all the answers you need beforehand. Nothing technical was asked - just know your projects. I had a great time speaking to everyone and my initial feedback was good, so I had high hopes going forward in anticipation of an offer. I was told I would hear back from them with a decision the following week, but I never heard back. I attempted to follow up with my recruiter on two separate occasions over the course of the following month, but I still never got a response. The closest thing I got to a response from them was a survey request, and my application was only just recently updated as "no longer considered" - nearly three months after I last spoke to somebody and with no email. I feel completely insulted and like my time was completely wasted. Despite a very positive interview experience and seemingly good initial feedback, the lack of communication post interview completely spoiled this experience - and I have nothing to show for it. If you want to interview with Amazon, make sure you have other opportunities in the pipeline because they might not say another word to you after all the work you've put in. Beware!

I interviewed at Amazon (Dallas, TX)

      Interview

In total I interviewed with about 10 people. By far the longest interview process I’ve ever undergone. The first interview was a standard phone screen. The subsequent interviews were more thorough spread across multiple days. On one day I interviewed with up to 6 people.

I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA)

      Interview

An online assessment, followed by an hour-long virtual screen, followed by 3 hour-long virtual interviews back-to-back. Almost all questions were behavioral, related to Amazon's Leadership Principles. Rounds were about two weeks apart, contacted very quickly after application.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Austin, TX) in Jul 2025

      Interview

Long process - 3-6 months. All I can say is that you must be fluent in the Amazon Management Principles as well as knowing the STAR method. This helped tremendously throughout the process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about a time where you.... etc and then it'll be about one of the management principles. They will also follow up and dig more and more about the STAR responses. So understand what you're saying.
