Was called to interview as a CSR and as I researched the company it only seemed like they were hiring sales people. I arrived at my interview and there were dozens of people for various positions. The interview was fine, but wasn't my best, and yet they loved me. They told me about the job and low and behold sales position, they just called it cust rep because all the leads are warm, and they want the insurance. Meaning you just go there and they will sign up as they wanted it, and its mainly done by a computer.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at American Income Life (Raleigh, NC) in Apr 2015
Interview
I applied for a customer service position through Career Builder. When an employee called to schedule the interview and told me the company name, I specifically asked if selling was involved (because I was not at all interested in sales), the woman said that "no sales were involved and that you would be contacting customers who already have established policies to obtain more information." I agreed to the interview. It was a complete lie. When you arrive, there are about a dozen others waiting to be called in. There are a panel of so called interviewers. They are all nice and very inexperienced and ask you some typical customer service skill questions, as well as some old school interview questions. I again asked if this was a sales position and was told, it was a customer service position. They lied again. A few minutes later, I was brought in a room with most of the same people who were waiting when a walked in (minus a few others who were smart enough to walk out instead of wasting their time). You then sit and watch a film about how selling life insurance can change your life, etc., along with a salesman convincing you of the same. You are also told you have to spend $50 or $60 to start the ball rolling if you're interested in working for them. You then have to fill out some forms about yourself and you are told you will be contacted within 24 hours to proceed to a one on one interview. During this presentation a smart woman walked out. I should have done the same. I didn't submit my forms and wasn't contacted. Like other reviews have stated, the people who work there are like a cult. This was a total waste of time.

Interview
I went to a career fair and I got a call from them about three days late, telling me that they wanted to interview me. I went in to their office and I had a bad vibe going into. I was brought to an office and ask me a few questions then was taken to some conference to listen to a presentation that lasted about an hour, claiming that you could make $4,000.00 a month which to me sounded to good to be true. Then if you're lucky you'll get call for a 3rd interview but by that point I just wanted to get out.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at American Income Life (South San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2014
Interview
The secretary called saying they found my profile online and want to setup an interview, I asked what kind of position it was and if it was a sales job and she said I would have to talk to the interviewer for those details. (which should have been my first shady red flag) So during 1st interview they asked couple of questions about my past then I asked what position was available and they said their company 'enrolls union members in services' so I asked is it a sales position or not and the interviewer said no its an 'enrollment' position. So she send me 5 minutes later to a 2nd interview which is just a sales presentation of how to be an insurance salesman where you'd be going to people's houses not an actual office or worksite. During group interview other candidates who could see it was a sales job were just walking out the door cause they weren't looking for a sales job.
