The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BlackRock in Jun 2010
Interview
My initial contact was a series phone interviews. Each one lasted at least an hour. When I was invited in for the formal office interview, I met with 7 more individuals (peers and senior people). I also had multiple video calls with Managers in other offices.
The interviews were primarily behavioral based. A lot of digging in to my past expereinces. Looking back, they wanted to make sure there was the right fit. Communications, understanding the business, original thought and having a client focus were all themes touched upon during my interviews.
Having been here a couple of months my first impressions are the culture and the people are easy going(we are not an investment bank). Everyone works hard and works together. Communication is open and honest (and not mean). HR is respected by the business.
Still some growing pains as everyone gets comfortable with the size of the firm. Lots of opportunity for smart, hard working people.

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at BlackRock (New Delhi) in Aug 2021
Interview
Interview were good. There were lot of situation-based questions. Though the feedback was not provided and the honest answers were not considered as they needed an answer even if you were not in those situations as questions were asked about.

Question 1
Q: Tell me about yourself
Q: How did you handle a situation in which there were no alternatives
The worst candidate experience I've ever had. I had a 2-hour long interview and during that time they bashed JP Morgan, the interviewer cursed and grilled me with questions. After a phone interview and a 2-hour in-person interview, I still have not received an email rejecting me. The experience was so unprofessional and they brag about their "culture" but if this interview was any indication of the culture... yikes.
I applied online. I interviewed at BlackRock in Oct 2016

Easy online application, first round is a digital interview. Very simple--they give you the option to prepare with a practice question. This round also functions as a "digital cover letter." The idea is personalize your application by sending the recruiter a digital form of the contents you would normally include in a cover letter.
