I was chased on LinkedIn by the GM who thought I was a good fit for the company. The role sounded like a step back as I was a Head of Sales at the time. I was assured that they were looking for a more senior person and that the role hasn't been put online yet.
Included multiple rounds, conversations. Unfortunately it was a repeat of the same basic questions, it became clear that the attending people were not prepared and haven't had a look at the CV beforehand.
On multiple occasions I was asked - how did you hear about the role? Why did you apply? Which again seemed a bit bizarre as I was approached for the role.
In the final round, I believe it was the 4th or 5th conversation at this point, they asked me to prepare a presentation about recent wins, problems and how they were handled. I was interrupted during the presentation almost every 10min - which might have been meant as a strategy to rattle me and see how I respond?
To me at least, it was not an enjoyable process, many remarks were quite disrespectful. They also were not prepared for questions that I had for them in the end (why should I join?, why have previous employees left this position? questions about culture etc.).
If a headhunter or an employer approaches someone themselves for a role that they clearly haven't been able to fill so far, I would expect for them to make the role more enticing, to offer convincing argument why I should leave my current position for this company. Instead I experienced a very arrogant and ignorant behaviour. It was a mutual decision then and there not to move forward.
