I had 4 interviews in total. 1 with HR, then hiring manager, then another leader, finally CCO who would be my skip level manager. The conversations were really enjoyable.
But whenever HR came into the picture things blow up. After our first discussion with HR person, she said the hiring manager is in the office so she will talk with him immediately and get back to me the following day. After a week of silence, I followed up. She ghosted me. Only after 2 weeks she got back to tell me that they wanted move ahead. She didn't even acknowledge her behavior. Once I brought it up, she blamed people being on holiday. Lie #1
Then we proceeded, the offer was worse than others I got but I really liked the leadership so I said okay. But then comes the contract. It was horribly strict with a super unrealistic non-compete and bonus structure. But after some discussions and compromises on both sides, we agreed on the details. While I was waiting for the updated contract, they went silent again. Only 3 days later they said they cannot make the changes they promised. The reason is they want to ensure consistency among employees. Then I reached out to current and former employees and 3 of them confirmed that there was no non-compete in their contract. Lie #2.
That was the end for me and declined their offer. Such a bad experience and brand reputation for a company.
