Capital One Lead Software Engineer interview questions

This is an a 8 hour, full day interview that has no bearing on the skills needed for this position. You will be evaluated on your ability to survive several case studies (including one which requires substantial work ahead of time), in the manner of a full-on consulting firm, which Capital One is not. Further, be aware that this interview will cover areas outside of your skill set, most likely not in your field, and also likely not anything you would be doing in the job described. The entire process is like a little self-sustaining industry, and I don't understand what the purpose is - nothing I did or saw on that day had anything to do with the job I was applying for.

I had a great experience with all interviewers except one. My first four interviews had some great technical conversations around the kind of problems that Capital one and Amazon (I work for Amazon) solve and what approaches work for the other. It did feel very welcoming and I felt like not only were they trying to judge if I would be a good fit, but they were genuinely interested and even excited to learn more about my project at Amazon/AWS. However my last interviewer was all about “Capital one is the best, we have unparalleled implementation of our DevOps” and so on. He only asked me about the technologies that he was working on (Docker, Postgresql, etc) these had no mention on my resume or even the job specification I applied to. When I told him, sorry I don’t have experience working on these, he quickly responded “Cant believe a company like Amazon doesn’t use docker”, “ Cant believe you didnt use PostGresql to solve this” I also got responses like a candidate at your level shouldn’t say no for whether or not you know this or that technology. In the ongoing interview he asked me to look through the job spec again and see if I thought I met those. I might not have met his expectations in which case it is okay for him to not hire me, but I couldn’t believe how he wouldn’t respect me or my company’s choices in technology and was so arrogant about it. It completely put me off.
