I had a really, really great experience right up until the end and I'm completely disappointed in how the situation turned out.
I applied online, heard back from one of the remote recruiters 3 days later and set up phone screen two days later. The phone screen was 30 minutes and the recruiter on the other end didn't sound very enthused so parts of it were awkward. None the less, we still had a great talk and I was set up to do an onsite 3-4 days later.
The onsite was a really great experience. I was set up to do a "marathon" interview, which means that I was interviewing with 4-5 people at 30- minute intervals. The great thing was that I was sent a schedule of whom I would be meeting and at what time and that really helped in preparing. The day of, I was informed that one of the interviewers was sick, which was an understandable circumstance. One of the greater experiences I had, was being invited to lunch and getting to sit down and meet the potential team I would be working with. It was a really fun experience and I know not to many companies would even include that as part of the experience. After lunch, I continued on with the interviews.
One thing that was off-putting was that the 4 people I interviewed with did not know which role I was interviewing for. There was no definitive answer on whether I was being interviewed for a Recruiting Coordinator role or Recruiting Operations Coordinator role, which do have distinctions.
However, each person I met with was incredibly smart, passionate about the job and the company itself and really, really believed in creating a great company and I walked away from each interview really excited about the prospect of working there.
The negative experience I had came in AFTER all of this. After the onsite was over, I have heard nothing back from the company. Nothing at all. Not even the standard "not selected" notification.
Two days after the onsite, I sent a message to each of the people I interviewed with to just thank them for taking the time to meet with me. I know that with each person I spoke about the candidate experience and one of the key items in the original job description was "no candidate gets left behind!" so I'm so incredibly disappointed in the lack of follow-up. I had to go through Jobvite to see that the position was closed.
