      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Datadog in Oct 2023

      Interview

Uncomfortable conversation with the recruiter - tense conversation with the hiring manager. Didn’t make it past the first round. I had a lot of difficulty with the hiring manager - she worded questions in a vague way that lacked context and was critical of the answers I could give with what little I knew - and would not readily add context when asked. As an autistic person — I found the interview incredibly frustrating and dejecting. I can only work with the information given and she was not prepared to give fleshed out scenarios. At the end of the call she said I would have an opportunity to demonstrate my knowledge in a written scenario and they never sent it - they just followed up with a rejection. Ultimately - it’s for the best because that’s not an environment I would do well in - but it’s demoralizing to have my competence questioned because the interviewer expects me to infer something not explicitly stated. I would say — if you are interviewing — ask for accommodations and maybe proceed with caution. I’m not sure if my experience is reflective of the work culture - but if it is - woooo boy. Avoid.

      Question 1

All of the questions were vague scenarios that required intimate knowledge of their inner workings/processes - despite the interviewer saying otherwise.
