Personally, I did, about 1 years worth. However, do not lie here, be honest, and when you have 0 years experience make them know why you would be good at retail, change their thoughts. Rather than experience, use your knowledge and your abilities and make them known to the person interviewing you (why those attributes would be good in a retail setting).
