I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at DoorDash in Mar 2026
Interview
Recruiter reached out on linkedin. I had a chat with the recruiter that was friendly then an online assessment. Online assessment was to calculate dasher payout with hackerrank, exercise was easier than expected but I didn't make it to the next round (personally didn't prepare well). I asked about whether i'd be able to use fastAPI (as they talk about API design) & never heard back. You get prep material but I feel like it overcomplicated what you'd actually be doing in the assessment so it felt slightly misleading. The interviewer was alright & didn't expect me to know perfect syntax. Could've been a bit more helpful with the hints though, I'm not seeking handouts but typically with live interviews when you get stuck/go off course you get a hint/guidance as they assess collaboration too. The guide mentions something around this too but at some point the interviewer went silent for a long time as I was expressing my thoughts. At least I got the outcome so I can move forward. I would urge for better communication from the interviewer side.

Reached out to by recruiter and did call with them - described resume experience, discussed role and team, etc. Was notified after that I didn't make it to the round for a technical interview.

Interview
A lot of steps towards the interview process. Some were kind of pointless and just felt like a means to an end and what to expect. The same information could have been relayed in an email.
