I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at DoorDash (Seattle, WA) in Apr 2021
Interview
The process involved a technical screen, five full interviews and an informal chat. The interviews were a mixture of evaluating execution, leadership principals, technical skills, project deep-dive, system-design, and coaching skills. The interviews were virtual and they gave the option to split over two day (I did it all on the same day). I heard back from the recruiter within three days with an offer (faster than any other interview I did). The interviewers were incredibly professional, kind, and energetic. Probably the best interview experience I have had.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
System design included a system with multiple services that required transactional writes. Great question that had a simple solution that got more complex with additional requirements. The core of the interview was asking about typical project, coaching, hiring, execution questions.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We greatly appreciate your perspective on the DoorDash interview process. If you have any additional feedback please email recruiting@doordash.com.
Other Engineering Manager Interview Reviews for DoorDash
I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash in Jan 2026
Interview
First it was recruiter screen over phone followed by round 1 which had 2 interviews. First it was 60 min system design followed by 45 min team hiring/management interview. It seemed straightforward process.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2024
Interview
Had two interviews back-to-back. One was a system design interview and another was about leadership/hiring. In the system designs interview, the software engineer interviewing me was very rude and I could tell that I was not going to pass within the first 10 minutes. I started designing a system but he kept interrupting me and asking me questions about another component I haven't even gotten to yet. I like to break a problem down into smaller parts, design each component and tie it all together. Once I get an overall design, I may modify it depending on some requirements I may have not considered. However, it seemed that the engineer expected me to have the same design he had in his mind in the first 10 minutes and he did not let me finish designing even one component let alone finish a thought. Overall, had a very bad experience and if all engineers are like this, then not interested in working for this company.

Signed an NDA, but question was a typical system design question.
