Forward Financing Senior Customer Service Manager interview questions

I applied for a manager role and had a phone screen. The next day they told me they had hired an internal candidate. Sure felt like a waste of my time. Fast forward a couple weeks and they reached out to see if I was interested in a senior manager position. I said yes. We went through a few rounds then they selected another candidate. Which is fine. Then they asked if I would be open to interviewing for it again in the future. No thanks. Felt like a weird process overall. They were asking specific questions about what my boss of 15 years ago would say about me back then. Just weird. Asked too many things that had nothing to do with anything. They were nice and all that but I got the feeling they had a lot of junior leaders who were in over their head.
