The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Genentech (South San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2011
Interview
Conducted two phone interviews. The first was with a Research Associate in the department I would be working in, who would later become my immediate supervisor. Questions were behavioral-based (STAR format). The second interview took place a couple weeks later with the scientist my supervisor worked under. Questions were much more technical (define this concept, tell me how you would test this, etc.) and directly applied to the scientific disciple I have been studying.

I applied online. I interviewed at Genentech (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2023
Interview
They gave me a quick rundown of the company and the team, and then we delved into a discussion about my ongoing projects. It was an opportunity to explore the company's dynamics and see how my skills could fit in.
For the interview process, I had back to back interviews with multiple people, and they lasted about 30 min each. All the interviewers were very nice and informative. Each interview was quite conversational.
