I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at General Atomics (Poway, CA) in Aug 2014
Interview
Had a few applications in their system (which I did not get called for), but at least my profile was on file. They contacted me a couple months later when another positions opened up (one that I had not applied to). They setup a conference call with the hiring manager and other supervisors. During the phone interview they asked questions about my background (both school and professional experience from resume) and technical questions (mostly general engineering knowledge). Overall, the conference call went OK and I was not sure if they will call me back. To my surprise a couple of weeks later they called to setup an in person interview. At first I met with the recruiter and had a quick 30 minute interview. The next interview was with a panel of 4 engineers including the hiring manager and supervisor and lasted about 2 hours. The interview was very relaxed, but at the same time they wanted to know how much I knew both about the position and general knowledge (so it got technical at times). I had a really good feeling leaving the interview and knew I had done a good job. They called me later that week and said they wanted to move to the next step which was a background check. Once that passed I got an offered 2 weeks later.
I applied online. I interviewed at General Atomics in May 2026
Interview
A short HR screening call followed by a 30-minute hiring manager interview. The interview is very technical and requires a lot of preparation even though it is for an entry level role.

Interview
First I spoke with a recruiter about the position and basic benefits information and next steps. Then I had a Teams interview with one of the department managers. Then I was told to wait to hear back. There is like a 5 step process.
