I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GlobalFoundries (Boston, MA) in Mar 2015
Interview
I submitted my resume over e-mail to the recruiter (friend gave me the contact information). I met later with recruiters on a career fair and talked in person about my application. I received a call about two weeks later to set up a phone interview, since I was a student from out of state. I had a 45 min interview over the phone the next day. I got the offer about two weeks after the interview.
From Application to Interview did not take very long.
The interviewers were both pleasant and attentive throughout which made the whole process a good experience. It gave me a clearer picture of what the job scope was going to be.

Interview
Chose the project based on a list, my university gave my details to them. They followed up with an email to set up a Zoom call. Spoke witb project supervisor who gave a short description of intern project. Very quick, the process was over in about 10 minutes.
The interview contained questions about past experiences and went through my resume. The questions were fairly straightforward and simple to answer. They also asked about my background and what I know about the company.
