applied and got setup for a first round interview. for a company of its size.... the first round was very disrespectful. interviewer had 0 people skills. i explained my experience and education so far, but the interviewer was asking questions outside of my experience. i had to clarify several times what I had mentioned, but it appeared the interviewer was going off a list of pre-written questions. This generally leads to things being very inorganic.
Moreover, I was asked to show examples of code I had written at work. Codebases are considered IP. It's very strange to get asked to show IP from previous companies that I've worked at.
Lastly, I had gotten asked a system design question with 5 minutes to spare. This is generally a pretty standard question that I've done at multiple interviews with different companies over the years. normally, this is a question where the interviewee gets 45 minutes. Despite initially being told that my interviewer would be there for me to ask questions, the interviewer quickly told me that the AI assistant was recording the call and told me to continue to keep working on my own cause they had another interview to get to. This is against "industry" standards as..... an interviewee normally has someone there (the interviewer) to ask clarifying questions. I don't believe the interviewer read the room very well when I asked why the interviewer was leaving.
from the strange request to show confidential IP to leaving an interviewer by themself, i think its clear the interview process here needs to be revamped. I also never got the chance to ask any questions. this was very much a one sided interview.
