How do you handle conflict with a fellow associate?
Anonymous
When I encounter conflict with a colleague, I approach it with a mindset of curiosity and collaboration rather than confrontation. First, I try to understand their perspective by actively listening and asking clarifying questions. Then, I calmly share my own viewpoint, focusing on the issue rather than making it personal. If we still can’t come to an agreement, I suggest finding a compromise that supports our shared goals. For example, in a past project, a teammate and I had different approaches to organizing our reporting data. I proposed we each outline the pros and cons of our methods, and we ended up combining elements of both, which actually improved the final outcome. By staying respectful and solution-focused, we turned a disagreement into a productive collaboration.
