How would you describe the object oriented programming concept of inheritance to someone with no coding experience?

A serious answer is: Playstation 2 inherited from Playstation 1. That means Playstation 2 can do everything that Playstation 1 does and it can do something more than that. Something less serious is: When grandma died, I inherited all her stuff. When I die, my kid will inherit all my bills. That's inheritence.
