      Accounts Payable Manager Interview

      Jul 17, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      El Segundo, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Internet Brands (El Segundo, CA) in Jan 2015

      Interview

I was interviewed by the Accounting Manager and VP of Finance/Accounting for a Manager position in which they will only pay for $50k. I arrived there 20 minutes early, nervous but prepared. I prepared almost 2 days, getting the appropriate suit, shoes, make up...making sure I am presentable. Recruiter was nice, offered me water and made sure I am comfortable. I thought that was cool. I was sent into a little conference room to wait. My first round of interview was good. But it turns out she was not even the person who should be interviewing me in the first place. Recruiter asked me to wait for the manager. I waited almost an hour only to be sent home because I guess he couldn't come off form a very important meeting. So I was told to come back after a week for a second round of interview. So I did. Again, 20 minutes early, dressed up really presentable and all. I was again, in the conference room and was told to wait for the manager. I waited...and waited...and waited. I was in that room for almost 40 minutes... waiting. Recruiter was kind enough to check up on me and informed me that the manager is on his way, just running late. Ok....After almost an hour of waiting, he came in. He asked me questions right away, no apologies what so ever. My stomach was growling from hunger as it was close to lunch time. My interview was at 10 am. He then asked me to hang on for a "few more minutes" to wait for the VP. And so I did. After another 30 minutes ...VP came in. Looks disgruntled and in a hurry. He asked away. I felt so insulted as he belittled my knowledge and experience by asking me "Really? So what does that mean?" "Tell me...what does that mean?" or "So you don't know?" or "So you don't have any idea?". I was shocked. That was a grueling and exhausting hour. I left the room mentally exhausted, drained, insulted and offended. They showed me NO RESPECT at all. No respect of my TIME, FEELINGS, and my TIME SPENT ON PREPARING FOR THE INTERVIEW. The worst part is, there was no follow up after. I know for sure I did not get the job. I understand if they thought I was not qualified. But there was no quick email, note, thank you or phone call for closure so that I can move on with my search. I was treated poorly by Internet Brands. This is a very snobbish, negligent company. They can learn a lot from the company where I came from.

      Accounts Payable Manager Interview

      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Internet Brands

      Interview

Well, I went for an interview in El Segundo office and it toooooooook about 4 hours and 20 minutes on-site interview process , met with co. accounting manager, controller and accountant (When I was talking with their sr accountant he mentioned something to me that was very shady about the department structure- I will leave that to you if you decided to go for an interview and hopefully that person still there). Sent a several thank you after the interview, and follow-up e-mail to their recruiter (HR), after weeks and weeks of waiting, guess what? no response at all. They will leave you no clue as why and how the status of your applications. Look very decent culture and mostly young people works there- who wanted to start their career and get experienced with. However, if you are experienced, education and professional person, this is not the path you are looking for. Therefore, is N O company.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Management- You should streamline your interview process. You guys wasting candidate effort, time and money. I know is given, but the most important you are wasting your company's money for this long interview process- I bet there are a lot of delays on your internal normal processes due to your over-exhausting and overwhelming interview process. Goodluck!
