I sent my resume and one of the company’s employees replied to my application and invited me to a first round interview. Usually one would expect a first round to be a conversation about past experiences and getting to know a candidate a little bit better as well as letting the candidate learn more about a company. Not at Ivanti’s interviews. I got on a call with a SE that works for Ivanti and without a proper introduction or letting me learn about the company he offered to jump to a coding session. I was surprised since I dis not expect to code, nor was I sure that I am interested in the job. I opened my IDE and we jumped to coding.
The SE gave me tupical leetcode algorithm problems, I right away ask whether that is what they do at work because if they work with a bunch of algorithms I am not a good candidate and I do not wish to waste my time. He said that they do not do algorithms, but those algorithm questions are there to see one’s thought process. How can you see one’s thought process by solving algorithms which just show whether a candidate solved them before or no? After 2 questions I decided to end the interview and save interviewer’s time and my time as well, it was enough for me to realize that I did not want to work for Ivanti.
