I applied through college or university. I interviewed at KIPP Schools (San Antonio, TX) in Mar 2021
Interview
They acted out a scenario where you were the teacher to see how you would react to disruptions in the class. The scenario was given beforehand and it wasn't that bad.

Question 1
When did a problem in your life become difficult to where you wanted to give up? How did you face this challenge?
the interview was productive and not stressful at all. the administrators who i spoke with were supportive and they were both very knowledgeable about their school and KIPP in general.

Question 1
They asked me what I think about the achievement gap between BIPOC and low income students versus more affluent students
It started with a basic phone interview to gage my experience, interest in the field, etc. A week later I was scheduled for a second phone interview which was a bit more extensive and job specific. After that I was invited to do an in person interview with the school leader and do a sample lesson plan presentation involving 6 of their students as he observed. Following that he gave feedback and we discussed what was expected for the position.
The whole process went pretty well, but I generally did not get a good feel for the environment, and it made me very uncomfortable in my interview when the school leader kept excusing himself so that he could scream at children who were walking in the hallways. Additionally, the starting salary is very low and they take out an additional 10% from each paycheck for a retirement fund (which is really great in theory, but not so great when the pay is already low).
I was given an offer 2 days after the final interview, but I turned it down.
