      Director Interview

      Feb 22, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Kohler, WI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Kohler Co. (Kohler, WI)

      Interview

I had always been a huge fan of the Kohler products and their brand reputation until I interviewed with them. My interviewing schedule took almost two days, which required me to take over two days of personal vacation. The first day consisted of interviews that went OK, but I concluded that I would probably not be moving forward due to the manager’s feedback on my background. Their decision on my background fit could have easily been decided if Kohler would have reviewed my resume more closely or interviewed me thoroughly over the telephone. However after my interviews, I was still required to take a half day of multiple Psycho-Analytical tests the next day that had nothing to do with the required skills of the position. I returned home the next morning only to be informed that I would not be moving forward as a candidate, which clearly equated to Kohler never bothering to review my test results. Based on Kohler sloppy interviewing process, their complete disrespect for my time, and their evasive testing practices, I plan never to buy a Kohler product again. Kohler needs to remember that their candidates are also their customers!

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Kohler Co. (Kohler, WI) in Dec 2023

      Interview

The interview process was very cumbersome and overbearing. The HR phone screen and Hiring Manager screen was not an issue, however, if you passed those stages, you then were given the "real fun" to do. I was given a Caliper assessment and other IQ and personality tests from yet another company and THEN had to meet and get "interviewed"(grilled) by a psychologist who then put a report together for Kohler about me, my cons&pros, etc. and made a hiring recommendation. Next, if you pass, you go on site for a series of interviews. I met with 6 different individuals for one-on-one interviews and was told I "was a strong match" per all the testing and that I passed. Approximately 48 hours later once I was back in my home state after the in person interviews that I moved heaven and earth to be at on my end, one of the individuals I interviewed with personally and connected with on LinkedIn "promoted" the job on her LinkedIn and begged people to apply.. YES the job I just finished all interviews for and YES, the job I wasn't even given an answer for because they stated they had more interviews to do. That told me EVERYTHING I needed to know about this person, the company and how they treat people. To not even treat me with any respect less than 48 hours after I returned to my home, to find out from a sh!tty Linkedin post that I wasn't chosen despite meeting and exceeding every metric, IQ test and personality test they threw at me. Left me with a poor impression of the company unfortunately. Eventually, HR contacted me and told me I wasn't chosen.. yes, well after I saw the Linkedin post. Yeah, thanks there HR, you're a bit late to the draw.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What would it take to make you stay here? What would you think of product X in your bathroom? How would you navigate that? How would you fire someone? How would you handle that? Many many others.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kohler Co. in Dec 2008

      Interview

There are a number of steps that a candidate goes through before securing a position at Kohler. Phone screens, in person interviews, and even an interview with a psychologist (for certain levels of position, but not all have to take this particular step). A very thorough process, and one that is meant to screen out the candidates who are not able to succeed at Kohler.
