I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Macy's (Sandusky, OH) in Sep 2009
Interview
When I arrived I had to fill my application on the computer again. Then I had a 1:1 interview. The woman was very nice, looked through my resume and my application, and asked me the questions she had on a printed form. (I have little sales experience, and not in this line - I was officer in a bank - but it helped me answer the questions.) I had to explain what I would do with a customer, who arrives in the store. She also asked about my own experiences. The best customer service I've ever got or witnessed, an example when I helped out my coworker when he made a mistake with a client, and how would I react if a coworker tries to steal (of course, report immediately and get fired). I was told I will have to offer every customer Macy's card, and she was curious how I would do that. Then she asked me what department I would be interested in, and, when I was about t leave she wanted to know what perfume I use.
This interview was few days ago, I got a promise for a callback and a second interview, but it hasn't happened yet. I hope they call soon.

Question 1
Best customer service I've ever experienced or witnessed
Was interviewed for a seasonal position. Was told they have no seasonal positions, once they found out I was a college student. Made no sense to me quickly ended the interview.
The interview process was straightforward and fairly quick. It started with a phone interview from a recruiter or hiring representative who asked general questions about my background, availability, and interest in the role. The tone was professional but conversational, and the interviewer focused on making sure I could handle a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
I had one interview with the store manager and it lasted for about 45 minutes. The interview was all standard behavioral questions. I was offered the job on the spot.
