I applied for a Seasonal/Holiday Part-time Merchandise Associate position for Macy's. After 2 weeks of checking the online scheduling center I was finally able to set up an interview, which was today. I went enthusiastic & was friendly with 2 other applicants who were also waiting to be interviewed for various positions. FYI, at 28 years old, I have 4 years of retail experience as a Retail Associate for a small Downtown LA fashion store, and 6 years experience as a Business Office Manager, but times are tough and I will apply to any job I can get. With that said I was happy to be interviewed, but my enthusiasm went downhill from the moment I was called by the hiring manager into the his office. He seemed to be having a rough day and rushed through my interview like it was taking up his time. I decided to still answer his questions with the best atitude I could and we even laughed a couple times, however through out the whole interview a macy's employee( who did not make eye contact with me and was rude) was on the computer listening to our entire interview, which i felt was unprofessional to say the least. Not to sound self absorbed but I have always been hired on the spot for all the jobs I've had, or at the very least have been treated with respect by the interviewer and Macy's has me feeling like I barged into their human resource office and shouldn't be given the time of day. With that said even if they decided to hire me in the future, I'm not sure, based on the interview experience, that I would want to work around these type of people.
