Very poor experience. I genuinely feel I may have dodged a bullet.
The interviewer opened by saying he was in sportswear because he “couldn’t be bothered to change after the gym”. He then spent the next 15 minutes talking about himself with little or no relevance to MongoDB or the role, and the overall manner came across as obnoxious and unprofessional.
Once we got onto the actual role, it was clear there was strong alignment with my experience and I felt I handled the questions well. I also know MongoDB’s products well, having partnered with them in previous roles.
I was then walked through the next stages and told I would receive materials to prepare. After the call, I was completely ghosted. A follow up email and LinkedIn message were ignored.
Recruiting is often the first real exposure candidates have to a company’s culture and values. Unfortunately, this process did not reflect well on MongoDB.
