I applied online. I interviewed at NIH in Mar 2019
Interview
A phone interview and an in-person interview was conducted. The committee asked general questions, including what are your career goals? What are you looking for in the program? Why do you want to do research? General interview questions were asked.
Very comprehensive and inclusive. People were able to balance technical questions about my previous work with broader questions about what motivates me and my career interests. It did not feel difficult at all.
Make sure you are interested in the topic and you do your research on the lab before applying! I had a great experience and interview with these things in mind
