The hiring manager was negligent in providing the basic information needed for me actually find the building I needed to get to. The agency rep was only given a basic address (no map, no phone number). After receiving such basic info, I assumed that getting to the place must be cut and dry, needing no elaborate instructions. WRONG! The location I was interviewing at was a campus with many different buildings. The one area for visitor parking was inadequate and filled. After arriving 30 mins early, I spent 10 mins trying to find an area to park in (to no avail; eventually parking in an area not designated for visitors); I ended up walking MILES because I could not locate the building and the place is locked down like Fort Knox. Asked a couple of employees I saw walking around, they gave wrong directions. By this time, I'm late for the interview and sweating from the distance I've walked. Called my rep at the agency, she couldn't get in contact with the interviewer. Searched Google for a phone number, this location's number wasn't listed. When I finally found the building, there was no receptionist area, a phone with no company directory (and dialing 0 was useless). Asked another worker where I should go, he didn't know. At this time, it's 20 mins past my interview. I'm livid and done. Once I got my agent back on the line, she told me she had the interviewer on the other line. I respectfully declined the interview and withdrew myself from candidacy. If the person I was interviewing with didn't have the common courtesy to provide the agency with a map, directions and a phone number, then what would it have been like to work for him? For what the agent said, it was like pulling teeth from them just to get the name of the person I'd be interviewing with. Thanks, but no thanks, SLB.
