These were not your typical Google style white boarding questions. IMO they were straightforward assessments that allowed you to demonstrate your coding process. You get to bounce off ideas with your interviewer, which I think mimics a real world programming scenario better than solving how to balance a red-black tree. Think out loud as you solve the problems!
