I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Point72 (Palo Alto, CA) in Oct 2018
Interview
From start to finish the process took 2 months, very slow. The recruiter I was working with was having a hard time getting in touch and/or responses from HR. At one point 2 weeks had passed and I got the impression I was removed from consideration, but then I receive a call they want to move forward with me. I went through two phone screens then I was scheduled to meet with the Managing Director. We spent an hour together and had a really great interview. He had me scheduled for another on-site interview with his partner and an associate from another team in his office and their EA. He also gave me two assignments to one professional and one personal to complete before the interview. He told me is available for any questions I had in regards to the assignments. I asked some questions and spent about 1 hour on the professional and 7 hours on the personal. Please note I also have an existing full time job that I’ve had to make arrangements with to be able to attend these interviews. The next interviewed scheduled was 3 hours long. The EA he wanted me to interview with called out that day so they filled it in with another team member. All the interviews went well then the last hour me, the managing director and his partner spent going over the assignments. Which seem to have went well. A few days later her had sent me an email introducing me to the absent EA to schedule a call with her for early next week, which we did. The call was set for a Monday at 8am. I received an email from my recruiter (based in NY-the company Corp office in Connecticut) saying sorry he was out last week but they have decided to pass on me and that he is shocked bc things were moving so smoothly. I then told him that’s weird bc the managing director reached out to me to schedule a call w the absent EA. He was then confused and told me to take the call as scheduled. The call with the EA started off well but then turned awkward with pressing questions of why I want to leave my current role and me repeating multiple times that I want an environment change and culture change. Her asking well what’s wrong with the environment and my reply was it’s just not a fit for me and told her what I desire. She kept pressing for more info which made it uncomfortable. Well two days later I had followed up and also informed the managing director of the info I received from my recruiter and his reply was They must of mixed me up with another candidate they passed on and that after my discussion with the EA they have decided to pass on me because we are not a perfect fit. That they were seriously going to select me, but decided not to. WTF. What could an EA have possibly said to change your mind when everyone else gave you positive feedback? First of all an EA is never a perfect fit in the start, once you get to know each other and the EA adapts to the person she’s supporting me style and expectations, that’s when it grows into perfection.
Unprofessional- mixing up candidates, long response time, wasting time, long process and incompetent
Managing Director had a brand new baby that was under a month old. The personal work assignment was to locate the top schools k-12 in the areas between his home, his employment and his wife’s employment, the ranking of the schools, the enrollment process, the cost on private schools, if religious how religious bc they don’t want too religious and why one school is better than the other. It took a long time!
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Point72 (Neuilly-sur-Marne) in Jan 2022
Interview
Passed 2 interviews. Second was with senior manager, she had some technical issues with zoom so 1 hour I was literally talking to the chair as she was on her phone in the meeting room. She was in a rush, did it listen to me attentively. By the end of interview she did it gave me any feedback, said that she doesn’t understand why she’s doing it and etc. Very weird. I was waiting for their feedback for 2 weeks

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Point72 (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2021
Interview
I was offered the job yesterday but declined their offer (I had a better offer from another firm). HR actually called me back a day later to tell me they were "rescinding" their offer and it was a miscommunication. I didn't realize an offer could be rescinded after being declined...lol. This was enough for me to know I made the right decision by passing. This firm is beyond unprofessional.
