Interview
The process was quick and straightforward. There were two phone screens (one with the recruiter and one with the hiring manager), an onsite interview with multiple employees, and then a take-home project.

Interview
TL;DR: Big yikes. Hiring Manager was checked out for entirety of interview call and overall very dismissive. I was basically set up to fail.
The story: I applied for a marketing manager position at Samsara earlier this year. After a brief (very positive) screening call with the recruiter, I was moved to the first real interview call - this time with the hiring manager (and who would be my supervisor). I was excited and ready to talk with them about the position and my experience.
Unfortunately, it instantly became clear that the interviewer was barely interested in having an interview call. I don't know if they were tired, distracted, or if they had already made a choice, but the hiring manager was completely disinvested in our discussion.
The best way to describe the vibe is: you know when someone clearly doesn't want to have a conversation but is forced to? That was the manager's energy from minute one of our call. Overall, I felt set up to fail. Their energy was just as "annoyed" and antagonistic throughout the interview. For instance, instead of being genuinely curious about answers or questions, they would interrupt and dismiss marketing strategies I was introducing (even though I was answering their own questions!). Also any genuine questions I had were met with very dry short answers. Basically there was no interest on their part in giving me answers because they had been checked out since the top of our call.
By the end of this pseudo "interview", I knew this had been a complete waste of my time. And sure enough, instead of bothering to flesh out the rest of the hiring process, they ended the call by generically saying "okay thanks we'll let you know within a couple of days".
Why not reschedule the call if you can't genuinely focus on the interview? Why not communicate and avoid wasting our time if you already have someone in mind? Why bother going through the motions if you're not going to take this process seriously? Oof.

Question 1
Q: Tell me about a marketing campaign that worked really well. *interrupts answer* Okay but how is that different from what was done before? (I was talking about a startup with no previous marketing campaign.)
