I applied to be a flight attendant and later received a request to attend a hiring event. I chose to attend the event in DFW, which unfortunately, was quite disorganized.
The event hosts, who were current Sky West flight attendants, were consistently correcting each other's information based on outdated information from their notes. Additionally, they gave conflicting instructions. Initially, they asked us to prepare a one-minute presentation about "why we wanted to be flight attendants," but then another host spoke the prompt to be "what made us a great fit for the role." This confusion occurred within the five-minute preparation time, leaving many applicants like myself unsure of which prompt was the actual one; because there was only one prompt- no options. I'm pretty sure there was some miscommunication issue going on between the flight attendants because that was unfair for us. Approximately half of the attendees, including myself, answered the first prompt, while the other half responded to the second. It's unclear which prompt, if any, was the real prompt. My presentation was briefly interrupted by someone speaking to the hosts, but I continued to avoid exceeding the one-minute limit.
After everyone presented, the hosts stated they would announce the names of individuals advancing to the second round within 40 minutes by posting a list outside the door. However, the announcement took approximately an hour, and unfortunately, I wasn't selected to move forward.
Despite not advancing, seeing the event's disorganization makes me feel somewhat fortunate not to have been selected. It doesn't seem like an airline that's put-together.
