I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at South Carolina Federal Credit Union (North Charleston, SC) in Sep 2015
Interview
It started with a phone interview that asked a lot of simple personal questions to gauge the actual interest in the position. I was then asked to take a situational test.
I was then invited to an In-person interview. I was asked most questions regarding my experience to my resume. They asked a lot of "Tell me about a time when you..." Kind of questions. Practice the STAR format and you'll be fine.
Then a background check which led to them calling 2 references. The whole process took about 4 months.

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at South Carolina Federal Credit Union (North Charleston, SC) in Aug 2015
Interview
Applied online, got a phone call a few days later explaining the job in greater detail, asked a few questions that were easy to answer honestly.
Got a call a few weeks later to do an in-person interview. She was very nice and asked a few of the same questions from the phone call. But it wasn't a high-pressure situation. I dressed in a shirt and tie and answered honestly.
I was asked to take a test that was both situational "what would you do if..." as well as some role play simulation online.
They didn't have the position I was looking for open so I had to wait a few weeks. The recruiter kept me in the loop every step of the way until I was offered the position.
I then had to get a drug test on an offsite facility and started 2 weeks later.
