I had the same experience as the other Senior Product Analyst candidate. I had a good conversation with the recruiter, who then sent me a take-home assignment and a link to schedule an interview with a team member. The take-home assignment required connecting to a database of anonymized data and providing some product funnel insights. The interview was about 10 mins behavioral, followed by a 15 min case (which was unusually unstructured, it seemed like he was making it up on the spot).
Once the interview was over, he said that my takehome assignment was pretty decent, but he had some feedback for me. Essentially, he wanted me to:
1. Map out the problem space of pain points for the business
2. Propose initiatives to improve their top-of-funnel product metric
3. Provide an informed ballpark estimate of how much we think these features will move the needle.
For context, I had spent about 2-3 hours on my take-home and provided a sufficient analysis on the business. I have submitted similar take-homes for other companies and have received glowing reviews. Realistically, the interviewer’s requested feedback would have taken at least 8-12 additional hours. It seems that this company wants candidates to bend over backwards and perform free labor for them.
