I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Tanium (Wellesley, MA)
Interview
I was contacted on LinkedIn by an internal recruiter from Tanium for this position. The process was outlined as:.
1. Screening/initial conversation with recruiter
2. A high level call with the hiring manager
3. Call with a team member to talk about cloud security concepts
4. Coding interview with another team member
5. Final call with department lead to determine ‘culture fit’
The HR/recruitment team was highly communicative throughout the entire process. I did get feedback after each interview stage. When asking about salary expectations for the role in the initial screening call they answered directly and I was also direct about my salary expectations. My goal was higher than their range for the position but I was assured it would not be a problem.
The hiring manager and team members were friendly and avoided ‘gotcha’ type questions. They were all pleasant to talk to and seemed like a good team.
The coding interview was easy and covered fundamentals (loops, functions, conditionals, modifying lists/dictionaries). There were only a few questions and it took a pretty short amount of time to complete the test portion, and the rest of the time was spent discussing things like CI/CD and IaC.
I was sent a note after the coding interview that they had decided not to move on to the next stage. I asked for feedback on what changed and received no response.
Ultimately the process itself was positive, but not giving feedback to candidates who have committed so much time really soured the whole experience.
