Interview
I went through 4 interviews. The first with a manager. The second and with the HR manager and then an assessment the same day with another manager. The assessment a packet of different displays and they ask you how you would merchandize each display. Its multiple choice. The third was with the store manager where she explained the role even more and walked me to a section of the store and asked how I would merchandize it. The 4th and final interview was with the district manager and district HR manager. The questions were all situational for each interview. For example "Name a time a decision you made effected the whole team".

I was an internal applicant and had been doing the job unpaid for a few months before this position opened up. So perhaps my experience is unique in that my managers already knew the level of creativity they could expect from me, as well as my own personal work ethic.

Describe a time when you had to deal with an angry co-worker or customer. Hint: Do not say the word "customer," say "guest." That is so important in the Target culture.
Why do you want this position? As obvious as this question is, you'd be amazed at how many people haven't thought through their answer, and that always shows. Be articulate and specific.

I interviewed on two separate days with five people. It was based on situational questions and how I might change a display.
