Interview
I applied online over a month ago. Someone from HR reached out to me after 3 weeks, which seems a bit long. I was still interested in the company though because I do similar work with my current job so on paper I know that I was a great fit. I had a call with the HR representative and she was extremely snobby. She asked me questions about how they were internally structured, which I have no way of knowing since I don't work there, and she was annoyed that she had to explain this to me. Isn't that the point of HR phone screenings though...to discuss how the teams are structured, more insight about the role, etc? She also seemed annoyed that I have experience working with their competitor. I made the point that I thought it was a positive because I believed Outbrain's product to be superior, but I think because of this she decided that she didn't like me. At the end, she said she would talk to the team and get back to me if they were interested and I didn't hear back for 2 weeks, and only after I followed up. I find it highly unlikely that the team wouldn't want to speak to me with my experience so closely aligned with what they were looking for, I work with publishers everyday on generating revenue (through syndicated content, nonetheless) so she just seemed to be more of a bottleneck than a help. I wish I had the opportunity to talk to the team directly instead.
