You made the right decision. I was an International Consultant with Travelocity for 8 yrs, 3 of which were on the IMF account. Travelocity bit off much more than they could chew when they took on the IMF. During your interview, you were led to believe that the IMF would be utilizing an online reservation booking engine. Well, the tools were there for their use and for a simple itinerary the booking tools would be fine. However, due to the complex nature of the type travel undertaken by the IMF, the online booking tool for the most part, is pointless and most reservations were and still are made with a consultant. The account was sadly mismanaged by Travelocity from the get go. To make matters worse, Travelocity Business was sold to BCD Travel in June 2013. The ensuing software merger was nothing short of calamitous. Not only was BCD a corporate culture clash with Travelocity, BCD had little understanding of the existing software used by Travelocity. Don't beat yourself up over this one, you made the right choice and saved yourself a hellish work existence.I will add that some of the best consultants I have ever had the pleasure of working with were at Travelocity. It was poor management that refused to acknowledge software limitations that doomed Travelocity. Even though I live locally, I too was a virtual employee since 2011, which was my choice. It is very interesting that Travelocity wanted you to move because they hired an International Rate Agent who worked and still works virtually from Michigan. My guess is, that after you turned them down they learned "hey, we'd better hire qualified candidates regardless of where they live". Kudos to you and the Mountain State.
