      Intern Interview

      Oct 10, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at USAA

      Interview

I was scheduled an interview by a recruiter I met in a campus career fair. I showed up at the appointed time and place on time. I checked in with my ID at the front doors and waited in a lobby along with other interviewees. There were a mix of students interviewing for different companies because the interview was held at the school's careers building. I waited for roughly an hour and a half as I watched interviewers from other companies call off students and there were a few USAA interviewers that called students but I was never called. I went to the front desk to ask if I was still having an interview so the receptionist called a USAA interviewer who then called a fellow USAA interviewer who was scheduled to interview me. The lady insisted that she had called my name and that I must have been late. I mentioned that I checked in with the receptionist in time for the interview but she would not accept it. I think USAA is a good company. The people I met at the campus career fair were awesome people and were very helpful. I was actually quite excited for the opportunity to interview for them. They typically look for juniors, which I was not, so I thought that I was really given a great chance. However, after I had dealt with the lady that was supposed to interview me, my excitement and desire to work for them disappeared. I felt that I had wasted my time, probably her time too, but I felt that she could have handled the situation better. She was abrasive and unapologetic which I thought was rude. The recruiter that had the interview set up for me was kind enough to call me and ask me what had happened and apologized for it. Unfortunately, the company's image has become a reflection of the interviewer in my eyes. If the company contains people like the interviewer then I do not want any part of it.

      Interview

It was only one interview. I got a text asking what time to schedule it and I accepted it. Then, I was the selected candidate to get the offer. I waited for nearly two weeks to hear back from the team. My interview was also 8 months out from the internship.

virtually proctored technical skills quiz. python language asked 3 questions to demonstrate coding knowledge. would only recommend for computer science majors and not information systems majors because heavily coding based.
