I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors in Jun 2024
Interview
It was a video interview with 4 questions using the platform HireVue. Three questions were experienced based and the 4th was to give a mini lesson as if you were teaching a group of students. The platform gives you an opportunity to practice before doing the interview. Once you're in the interview you can do 2 takes (if needed). If you don't like your first take you can re-record but once that recording is done it automatically goes to the next question and you don't have the option to view or re-record. Also, at the end, they asked one more question about experience with standardized tests (even though they said it was only 4 at the beginning). Note, although there were only 4 questions they were multi-part questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What age groups are you most successful working with? How do you tailor your lesson planning or engagement strategies to those age groups for an online environment? How do you ensure all learners are engaged and meeting objectives outlined in the lesson? Feel free to include successful examples, or share your go-to tools.
I answered questions about how I would respond to various teaching scenarios in real time. The interviewer was a Bot, which surprised me. The Bot gave validating feedback throughout the interview. I wasn't sure if that was a good sign or not, thinking the platform might do that in any case. But I got hired.

Interview
Didn't even complete the interview. I expected it to be a normal one-way interview, but it was a conversation with a talking AI bot. I closed out of it immediately.
Makes me wonder what else they are using AI for in replace of actual employees.
