Varsity Tutors interview questions

The application is normal. I received an email for a phone interview within a week. I had the phone interview and after I got an email for a second interview. This was a video chat interview where I had to get an application in order to have it. The interview was 10 minutes long. I got an email saying the interview process would not go in because there were not enough people needing to be tutored. Why not tell me before we started the second one.

I filled out an online application giving my tutoring experience, then got contacted by email for an interview. We met at a Starbucks and the woman interviewing me kept it pretty short. I was asked about my current plans for school and work, basically to determine how long I intended to work as a tutor with the company. I was planning on just a couple of years and she seemed to like that response. Then she went through a few questions from the subjects I had listed in my application and asked how I would help a client work through the problem. She also assured me that she was not testing my academic abilities. So I did my best, which included explaining where to look to solve some problems I was unprepared to solve. Then she told me that I had the job, pending the background check. I got an official email with the job offer the next week.
