Great question. There are two parts to this answer. Intrinsically, as a human, I like to do good, solve problems, and provide value. It simply doesn't feel good to NOT complete tasks assigned. On the other hand, there's also extrinsic motivation that affects my drive. Things like monetary compensation that contribute to my overall goal of buying my first house, would be a good example.
