I'm 36 years old & the youngest person in the group. A majority of my group is in their early 40s & have been working at the company for 15-20 years. This is very rare in IT & to me is both good & bad . It is good because there is a ton of industry experience, but bad because ther is no possibility for advancement in the near future. According to the structure of the group there are only 2 positions to move up into team leader & manager. Just by senoirty alone I'm 10+ years behind other memebers of the group. So I decided to explore opportunites outside of my current company in order to advance my career.
