I have had personal exposure to the rail sector from having commuted to high school daily on a train, on one of the UK's most congested routes. This opened my eyes to the challenges faced by a fast growth in population on rail services, and the engineering and innovation being used to tackle these. I am also highly interested in some of the upcoming major UK rail developments, such as High Speed II and Crossrail. I see myself to be the ideal fit for an engineering job in the rail industry as I'm someone who likes take on big responsibilities (typical to those which rail projects involve), and has shown success when doing so in the past. Last but not least, I see the rail industry as one with great potential progressing through the 21st century, not only for improving peoples' lives and helping connect communities, but also for helping the environment by lowering our carbon footprint, as rail becomes more of a viable alternative to other methods of transport.
