I reached out to one of the data scientists at Zillow during an information session at my university. I gave her my resume and mentioned how passionate I am about the Zillow and their business models. Because as being a person having a real-estate background and now pursuing my career in data science I closely follow the company and its research division.
After 3 days I got a mail for an on-site interview in Boston which was far one of my greatest experience I ever had. The interviewer was highly professional and kinda person you can see yourself working for.
After that round, I got a take-home assessment test which I had to complete within a week. It was fairly simple if you know how to code and overall familiar with Zillow's business models.
After my submission, I got invited for an on-site interview at their Seattle office. The entire interview was of 4 around 2-2.5 hours with 4 managers from different teams. The overall experience was great but I would say it was kind of not what I expected it to be. It was confusing and I did not get the chance to make a connection with the first 2 of the manager because of the room in which had to give my interview was booked another team and then I had to wait for 20 minutes in order to find another available room. Thus, my first round was of only 5-7 minutes.
Overall, one of a lifetime experience with one of the most innovative and greatest company. However, I wished things during my last on-site interview could have gone in the desired manner. Zillow has always been the kind of company I always wanted to work.
The overall process took 2+ months with a rejection.
