      Supervisor Interview

      Apr 30, 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Denver, CO
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at the LEGO Group (Denver, CO) in Nov 2017

      Interview

I was already a brick specialist and had been one for over a year before I decided to apply for a job as a supervisor. The process was quite a bit more informal since I was already a part of the company and close with my Store Manager, but I made time to open up to her about why I was considering the position. We discussed things I could work on to prepare myself, and while I never really had a real "interview" with my Manager since she already knew my work ethic, I did have an interview with the District Manager. Typically this is done over Skype, but since it was the holidays, she was a bit more busy and we just did it over the phone. It lasted for maybe 20 minutes total, and the interview very quickly turned from "why are you ready to make this change?" to "What can your manager and I do to make sure you can fit into this role smoothly?" The main focus of the interview, as it should be, was on the idea of the "team", with a major point on collaboration instead of just doing everything by yourself. My district manager was incredibly kind and genuine over the phone, often stopping and giving personal advice about how to be a great supervisor, instead of being like "this is what we're looking for". My advice for anyone who's already gotten in the door as a Brick Specialist and is ready to move up- have those conversations with your Manager, wand make it clear you're ready for more responsibilities. When talking to your DM, discuss your accomplishments as a group instead of trying to take credit for everything. Always bring questions!!
