About Sensory Inc.
For over three decades, Sensory has been the pioneer in edge-based Artificial Intelligence, perfecting user experiences through advanced voice, sound, and vision technologies. Deployed in over three billion consumer products globally, our embedded AI software powers private, secure, and ultra-low-power interfaces for the world’s leading brands—including Apple, Amazon, BMW, GoPro, Garmin, Honda, Mazda, LG, Microsoft, Samsung, Sony, Zoom and many more.
From our industry-standard TrulyHandsfree™ wake word technology and TrulyNatural™ Lite and TrulyNatural™ STT with natural language understanding, to TrulySecure™ biometrics and Sound ID, we build the tech that bridges the gap between edge hardware and next-generation AI.
The Role
We are seeking a deeply connected, highly strategic Senior Director or VP of Business Development & Licensing to drive our next phase of commercial growth. In this role, you won't just be selling off-the-shelf software; you will be structuring complex intellectual property (IP) licensing deals that embed Sensory’s Edge AI and Hybrid LLM-voice technologies into millions of upcoming smart home devices, wearables, automotive systems, and IoT platforms.
This is a high-autonomy, remote position for a heavy hitter who can blend technical credibility, a robust personal rolodex, and sharp legal acumen to independently originate, negotiate, and close enterprise-level licensing deals.
Key Responsibilities
● Drive IP & Software Licensing: Own the end-to-end sales cycle, from initial pipeline generation to executing high-value technology licensing agreements for Sensory’s core product suites (TrulyHandsfree, TrulyNatural, TrulySecure Sound and Voice, SoundID, and VoiceHub).
● Leverage Your Network: Tap into existing relationships with Tier-1 consumer electronics OEMs, semiconductor partners, wearables manufacturers, and IoT innovators to uncover new revenue streams.
● Draft & Negotiate Contracts: Take a hands-on approach to the deal-making process. You will be responsible for directly drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex software licenses, evaluation agreements, and software license agreements (SLAs) in alignment with our corporate and legal strategies.
● Monetize Emerging Tech: Position Sensory’s hybrid AI solutions—such as our offline speech-to-text engines acting as private edge-layers for Large Language Models (LLMs)—to companies looking to reduce cloud compute costs and latency.
● Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Sensory's engineering and product teams to translate market feedback into product requirements and ensure custom deliverables align with commercial commitments.
● Internal Feedback Loop: Serve as the voice of the customer by conveying market product requirements and roadmap insights back into the product and engineering teams.
What We’re Looking For
● Experience: 8+ years of business development or technology licensing experience, specifically within speech recognition, natural language processing (NLP), voice biometrics, or embedded software/semiconductors. Requires a blend of consultative sales acumen and deep technical expertise to drive partnerships with OEMs.
● Contract Expertise: Proven ability to independently draft and structure software licensing agreements. You should comfortably understand terms surrounding IP ownership, royalty structures, indemnification, field-of-use restrictions and professional services SOWs.
● An Elite Network: A proven track record of account management and effectively selling complex technology senior stakeholders, across product management, engineering and executive leadership at major consumer electronics corporations and enterprise solution companies, and scaling strategic partnerships that produced revenue.
● Articulate Technology to Different Audiences: Ability to clearly explain the value proposition of edge vs. cloud computing, low-footprint DSP/MCU optimization, and privacy-by-design architecture to both business executives and engineering teams.
● Self-Starter Mentality: Experience thriving in a remote environment with minimal oversight, possessing the drive to advance deals through long enterprise sales cycles.
● Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Benefits & Perks
● Competitive base salary with an aggressive commission structure based on licensing revenue.
● Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
● 401(k) match retirement planning.
● Stock options in a private company.
● Flexible, fully remote work environment anywhere in the US.
● The opportunity to work with foundational, award-winning technology that continues to define the voice AI landscape.
