Job Overview:
The PVD Engineer will be responsible for solving process challenges of vacuum-deposited thin film materials used in making our perovskite solar cells. This role involves ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency of physical vapor deposition (PVD) processes and other vacuum processes in Caelux’s development roadmap. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials science, engineering, and a deep understanding of thin film technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
· Process Development: Develop, implement, and optimize processes to enhance product quality and yield, ensuring alignment with customer specifications and industry standards. Scope includes both R&D-scale and production-scale equipment and includes translation of processes from lab to fab.
· Direct equipment engineers’ efforts: for maintenance, calibration, and optimization of manufacturing tools and associated metrology equipment.
· Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve equipment and process issues, providing timely solutions to minimize downtime.
· Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration and scale-up of processes into manufacturing.
· Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes, equipment settings, and troubleshooting procedures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
· Training and Support: Provide training and technical support to operators and technicians on PVD equipment and processes.
· Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and new technology implementation to enhance efficiency and performance.
· Metrology Oversight: Oversee the calibration and maintenance of metrology tools used for measuring thin film properties, ensuring accurate and reliable data.
Qualifications:
· Education: Master’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
· Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in PVD technology and thin film deposition processes.
· Technical Skills: Proficient in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PVD and vacuum equipment. Familiarity with metrology tools and techniques for thin film measurement.
· Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions. Uses design of experiments (DOE) methods and statistical hypothesis testing to develop process windows. Knows gauge repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R) methods. Understand fundamentals of statistical process control.
· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
· Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation: $115,000 - $152,000
Pay: $115,000.00 - $152,000.00 per year
