Job Overview:
Brilliant Borders Landscaping is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Landscape Bed Maintenance & Enhancement Apprentice to join our team. This is a hands-on, paid apprenticeship designed for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and want to build a career in landscaping, horticulture, and plant health care.
In this role, you'll work outdoors at multiple locations alongside an experienced team member to learn proper landscape bed maintenance techniques, plant identification, pruning practices, chemical plant health applications, and how to identify opportunities to improve and enhance our clients' landscapes. This position offers hands-on training, growth opportunities, and a clear path for advancement within our company.
A valid driver's license and the ability to be insurable are required for employment.
What You'll Learn & Do
Landscape Bed Maintenance
- Perform detailed bed maintenance including weeding, edging, mulching, deadheading, pruning, and general site clean-up.
- Maintain landscape beds to Brilliant Borders' high-quality standards.
- Learn proper seasonal maintenance techniques for trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals.
Plant Health & Horticulture Training
- Learn to identify common landscape plants, trees, shrubs, and perennials.
- Assist in monitoring plant health and identifying signs of insects, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and environmental stress.
- Learn proper fertilizer and plant health application techniques.
- Assist with insect and disease treatment applications while following all safety procedures and company standards.
- Gain knowledge of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices.
Landscape Enhancements
- Assist with plant replacements, seasonal color rotations, and landscape upgrades.
- Communicate observations and recommendations to supervisors.
- Document completed work and site observations.
Winter Opportunities
- Optional winter work may include participation in snow removal operations (November–March), as needed.
Skills & Requirements
- Valid Driver's License and ability to be insurable.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical, repetitive tasks.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to showing up ready to work each day.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
Preferred (Not Required)
- Previous landscape bed maintenance experience (not including mowing or lawn care services)
- Interest in horticulture, gardening, landscaping, or plant care.
- Basic knowledge of plants, trees, and shrubs.
Training Provided
- Plant identification.
- Proper pruning and bed maintenance techniques.
- Fertilizer and plant health application procedures.
- Landscape enhancement recommendations.
- Safety training and equipment operation.

- Monday–Friday
- 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Full-time seasonal position (March–December)
