Job Title: Patient Account Representative

Department: MARS Early Out

Schedule: Monday - Wednesday 8:00AM - 5:00PM with one evening until 7:00PM, Thursday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM (hours vary depending on team assignment).

Location: Telework model

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Summary: Coordinates with patients via phone conversations to resolve their self pay balance on behalf of the medical facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Connect with patients via outbound call regarding outstanding balances
• Answer and appropriately handles inbound calls
• Offer financial assistance and other opportunities for patients unable to make guideline payments
• Offer and establish payment plans to help patients manage payment of balances
• Shadow with personnel to assist in knowledge training
• Respond to patient billing and statement inquiries
• Obtain detailed necessary information to relay to medical facility for further review
• Review accounts for delinquent payments and send final letters if applicable
• Follow client specific standard operating procedures

Education and/or Experience

Knowledge of medical terms, insurance and the billing process.

Prior healthcare customer service experience preferred.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software.
